Lviv

Lviv

ne of the key rear regions is Lviv Oblast. In the first days of the war, the region hosted hundreds of thousands of people who were forced to flee their homes because of the russion attack, as well as embassies and international organizations relocating from Kyiv. Lviv immediately became a humanitarian and transport hub, as well as an important connection with Europe. Over five million people passed through Lviv in eight months.

All architectural monuments, which are world heritage, are trying to protect them from possible bombings. To ensure their safety in the city, stained glass windows are covered with plywood, churches are lined with iron, and sculptures are covered with mineral wool and wrapped in polyethylene. However, new technologies and scanning are now most important for the preservation of cultural heritage. Through digital preservation, we can preserve our culture and promote it to the world.

In order to preserve the architectural and artistic heritage of Lviv Oblast, scanning was carried out by Skeiron and Pinsel AR. The teams managed to document numerous objects in the region, including St. George’s Cathedral, Josefa Franz Villa, the Armenian Cathedral complex, the Church of the Transfiguration, the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called, sculptures of the Benedictine monastery, and many others.
