ver the past few months, from February 24, Mykolaiv stands as an invincible fortress that protects the south and all of Ukraine from russian invaders. After the partial occupation of the neighboring Kherson Region, the city suffers from enemy attacks almost every day, losing the best examples of its cultural and historical heritage.
In Mykolaiv, during the shelling on March 29, the building of the regional council was targeted, and the buildings of three national universities were also destroyed. In the village of Kysylivka of Bashtan district, the church of the 19th century was destroyed – the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in the village of Guryivka of the Kostyantynivska community – the historical monument “Turkish Well” of 18th-century architecture was destroyed. And this is only a part of the destroyed objects.
On April 12, the Russian military fired on a water pipeline that supplies water from the Dnipro River in the Kherson Region to Mykolaiv. So, a city with a population of half a million people found itself without water supply. After a certain time, the water in the taps can be started, but it is only suitable for technical needs. After the water supply is gone, the water company, businesses and volunteers deliver water by truck to residential areas.
