Kyiv

Kyiv

n April 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine magically liberated the entire Kyiv region from the last traces of the enemy. Despite great efforts, russia failed to surround the Ukrainian capital and blockade it. Since the first days of the war, Kyiv has been the main target of the enemy. And the cities of Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel, and the villages of the region became the epicenter of hostilities and took the brunt of the unsuccessful “blitzkrieg” of the russian federation.

russia does not just destroy cities and villages, but systematically destroys Ukrainian cultural heritage. So, in the village of Lukyanivka, the completely destroyed Church of the Ascension of the Lord, a rare monument of Ukrainian wooden architecture of 1879. In the village of Ivankiv, as a result of shelling by the russian army, the historical and local history museum, which housed the works of the Ukrainian national artist Maria Prymachenko, burned down.

In Kyiv, the buildings of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, the Maksymovich Scientific Library, the Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Philharmonic, the Central Council Building, which houses the Pedagogical Museum of Ukraine and the Museum of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921, were damaged. And this is only part of the destruction, because in general, in the Kyiv region, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy verified about a hundred episodes of russian war crimes against Ukrainian cultural heritage.

Mykhailo Sharkov and Serhiy Revenko, the AERO3D company and the Close War project conducted scanning in the Kyiv region.
