Description

Marking lines applied in the workshop before sawing the rectangular slab can be traced on the cross. R. Shuvalov's collection gives an erroneous date – 1841. However, after digitisation it is clearly visible that the last digit is 4. The digit 5, on the other hand, is carelessly cut and raises questions. Notably, the word «почивают» ("rest") is written in the plural. A carver's mistake, or was the cross intended for a double burial?
