Museum of Local Lore, Okhtyrka
The Okhtyrka City Museum of Local Lore has an interesting collection of materials on the nature, history, culture, and personalities of the city. The museum fund included 9,815 museum objects before the start of full-scale russian war against Ukraine.
On the night of March 7-8, 2022, a bomb fell on the Okhtyrka City Council, and also destroyed the museum. The bomb exploded three meters from the facility, so the building was badly damaged. The museum has a destroyed roof, floor coverings, cracked walls, broken windows, and doors. On the scanning the temporary roof already covers the building for conservation.

Currently, the museum has moved to the former children’s library. There were practically no losses among the exhibits. Specialists have two opposite opinions regarding the restoration of the historical building of the 19th century: preserve two facade walls, and build the rest anew; or pull down the cracked walls and restore the landmark.

The latter project aims to document the experience of museum workers during the war and prevent the irreversible loss of cultural heritage with the help of modern technologies.
